Curriculum

1. The First Step of Piano

This is for younger children or first time learner of school age. In the very first steps of piano I recommend classical music because it is a very good foundation to start with. Students learn at their own pace to develop musical artistry, technique and sight-reading. The instructors give careful demonstration of technique and provide detailed instructions, practice plan and weekly goals. The student is encouraged to listen to classical music often. Guided music selections for listening are provided. It is very important to have good habits in piano playing in early age. This leads to faster progress. It is necessary at this stage to correct to prevent bad habits in piano play.

Practice: The habit of consistency is the key to successful progress. For very young age students, practice recommended daily minimum twenty minutes at least five days weekly. Cradock Academy provides seven days work sheet of weekly assignments and goals. Parents are strongly encouraged to participate in student's music lesson together and to reward for the fulfillment of the goals. As progression grows, student's motivation and practice time will be naturally increased.

Materials: The wide music method and music selections are used. For students who have had previous lesson experience, I teach with previous learning material and introduce my method for easier adjustment to my learning materials.

Recommended learning materials are The Piano Adventures by Faber, Neil A Kjos piano Library, Alfred, Bastien, The Russian School or Piano and Methode Rose by E. Van de Velde.
